Links from other sites to your website are valuable! Google and other search engines regard links to a page from another website as a sort of reccommendation of that page and hence will give it a better rating.

Link StrategyThis is basically the essence of a link strategy. Obtaining inbound links from external sites is the key.

Not just any old sites though - links from web sites that are relevant to your area of business and sites that are also ranked highly themselves will contribute far more to your own ranking.
